This locality in the extreme South of Ecuador in Zamora Chinchipe Province on the border with Peru was visited in September 2006. Rio Blanco is reached by a hard 2 day hike from the village of San Andres.

The village of San Andres, Altitude 1,862m, Coordinates 17M 0689948 9467684 PSAM56. We had to cross the mountains in the background to reach Rio Blanco.	Paramo at about 3,300m Calls of Gastrotheca and Eleutherodactylus were heard but no frogs were captured.
